Whether you embrace the start of the holiday season or want to run away and hide when it begins, Philly’s got you covered this weekend:
Enter the amazing world of 3D printing at the Franklin Institute! Bring your creations to life with this innovative technique. For ages 11 and up. *Ages 11-14 must be accompanied by a supervising adult. 2pm-5pm. Pre registration required.
Encourage the love of running at the Philly Marathon’s Kid Fun Run! Children ages 6-12 will run short courses with their age groups and enjoy refreshments, prizes and other fun surprises. Onsite registration available starting at 9am. $15 registration fee.
11.23.15 marks one year since 12 year old Tamir Rice was killed by a Cleveland police officer while he was playing in a park. A year later, his family is still fighting for justice.
The Philly Children’s March ‘Child’s Right to Play’ action will be kid-friendly (all about play), with a joined moment for reflection, song, bubble release, and call to action. Pleasant Playground in Mt. Airy from 2-4pm.
Get into the spirit of the season with a musical version of a holiday classic! The Walnut Street Theater presents the Broadway hit musical comedy A Christmas Story, The Musical all weekend. Friday 8pm, Saturday 2pm & 8pm, Sunday 2pm & 7pm. Tickets $20 and up.
Brighten up your night as over 50,000 dazzling lights illuminate Philly’s historic Franklin Square. The musical light show is from 4:30pm-8pm every half an hour through December 31st. 5:30pm-7:30pm on Friday only, enjoy a performance by some characters from The Nutcracker of the Pennsylvania Ballet. Don’t forget to check out the holiday market and tee up for mini golf while you’re there!
Celebrate the beginning of the holiday season at the Woodmere Museum’s annual tree lighting. Live music, refreshments and fun for all! Please bring an unwrapped children’s gifts to donate.
